Job Summary

SST seeks a Staff Auditor in the Dallas area.

The Staff Auditor is expected to acquire and develop competence, skills and judgment in accounting principles and auditing procedures. Audit staff responsibilities include the preparation and maintenance of the financial reports, examining the profit and loss, performing substantive tests to detect material misstatements and deriving conclusions based on the reports.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Become oriented with the Firm’s practices, policies, and culture.
  • Become proficient at auditing financial statements for clients.
  • Obtain exposure to the nonprofit and career school niches audited by the firm.
  • Gain thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing techniques.
  • Assume responsibility for various segments of audits under the supervision of an Audit Senior.
  • Communicate auditing matters and problems to Audit Seniors, Managers, and Partners.
  • Acquire working knowledge of the client’s business.
  • Execute day to day activities of audit engagements for multiple clients.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and members of the audit team.

Requirements & Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following basic qualifications.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Dedication to superior client service.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Experience with Adobe and ProSystem FX Engagement a plus.

Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Advanced degree is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
  • CPA or actively working towards the educational requirements necessary to sit for the CPA exam.
