Job Summary

SST is seeking a Staff Accountant in the Dallas area.

The position serves as a part of SST Client Accounting and Advisory Services Team. This position will be responsible for providing accounting services consistent with the client engagement to a diverse group of small and medium sized non-profits in a very fast paced environment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Entry of accounting transactions: vendor bills, customer invoices, bill payments, customer payments, deposits, rents, journal entries, other disbursements, and withdrawals.
  • Maintaining complete and up-to-date detailed accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger accounts, trial balance, fixed assets systems, and financial statements.
  • Processing payroll and/or making the necessary entries to record payroll processed by a third-party (gross wages, employer tax and other payroll expenses, and payroll liabilities).
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management.
  • Prepare, reconcile, examine, review, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards and GAAP.
  • Constantly communicates with clients, team members, supervisors, and manager to provide status of tasks, projects, and any potential challenges.
  • Maintains and demonstrates customer service focus and core values of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills and produces work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Works independently using good time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Actively learns on the job through exposure to new challenges, team training, and professional education.
  • Fosters strong professional relationships with clients, team members, supervisors, and managers.
  • Attend regular meetings via video, phone, and in person.
  • Accurately track time and transactions by client.

Education and Licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Requirements & Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following basic qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a wide range of accounting processes.
  • 3+ yrs experience in QuickBooks Online (QuickBooks ProAdvisor certified is a plus).
  • Experienced in Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and accrual accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with a non-profit organization is-a plus.
  • Engages in and demonstrates good active listening with diverse groups of clients, team members, and managers.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Strong work ethic, takes ownership of tasks and sees them through to completion.
  • Honors commitments and fulfill promises.
  • Ability to be thorough and complete when working, processing, or providing information and documentation.
  • Ability to work in multiple computer systems efficiently.
